The museum welcomes visits by schools and has worked with an Educational specialist and a former headteacher to ensure that all our schools programmes meet the current curriculum.

We offer a range of programmes aimed at school children.

The museum’s focus is on spreading the learning for young people.

Some of the museums key aims are to:

  • To interpret and explain the history and heritage of policing within the context of crime and punishment, the criminal justice system and civic enforcement in Bradford from the early 19th Century onwards.

  • To tell the story of policing in Bradford since the inception of the then Bradford Borough Police (later to become the Bradford City Police) in the mid-19th Century right up to the present day. Including the key events that have taken place in Bradford during the last forty years since the creation of the West Yorkshire Police in 1974.

The museum recognises the challenges to school budgets which are reflected in our prices. All proceeds from school visits go towards the running of the museum.

The museum shop has a range of gifts and souvenirs including ‘pocket money’ merchandise.
