This month, the Bradford Police Museum celebrated its Tenth Anniversary!
On the 10 August 2014, the museum opened its doors to the public for the first time. To celebrate this huge milestone, the museum had half-priced entry and several vehicles displayed in Centenary Square from the museum’s police fleet, including a Victorian horse-drawn carriage (sans horse)!
From the dedication of Martin and Natalie Baines and countless hardworking volunteers, the museum has only improved in these past ten years, recently acquiring museum accreditation and grants to continue growing as a small independent museum. The museum gallery merges the modern-day with Victorian policing, surrounded by the history of the Bradford Police. The museum gallery used to be the officers parade room, tours include the charge desk area, the office, and several original cells. Martin and Natalie built and established the museum gallery, cells, and court that form the current museum. Since its opening, the museum has presented ghost tours, court reenactments, and city centre tours of historic crime scene locations. Several television productions have come to the museum as well, including The Peaky Blinders and Emmerdale.
